Danaus plexipus is a book about a major change in my life and how it became a tool for me to become a designer. It has an extra cover in the middle which gives the book a 'second life' in analogy to the process a caterpillar goes through to become a monarch butterfly (Danaus Plexipus)
Through a transitional typographic system, I tried to create tension to contextualise the text.
I wrote the book in Spanish and in English. The first half of the book uses a bigger point size for Spanish as the story is set before coming to England. This works the other way around for the second half of the book.
I illustrated both covers of the book and then adjusted them digitally.
